In October, DSS teamed up with the social mobility charity, Leadership Through Sport & Business and NatWest Bank to deliver a programme that would provide opportunities for young adults from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
During their two weeks at DSS, participants were introduced to cloud computing and data analytics. By the end of it, they were able to build a data visualisation mobile app to showcase their newly acquired skills. The course culminated in a dragons-den-style competition, where ten winners secured degree apprenticeships at NatWest.
Royal Bank of Scotland’s Director – Decisioning Innovation Lead, Honey Ajuwon, wrote a brilliant article about this initiative in which she illustrates how this innovative idea came about.
